Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools is currently accepting requests through the Transfer/Reassignment Portal for the 2025–2026 academic year. Families may submit requests under the following categories:
- Transfer to Home School: For students currently enrolled in a CMS school who wish to return to their designated home school.
- Extreme Hardship: For families facing significant personal or family challenges that impact the student’s ability to attend their current school. These requests will require supporting documentation.
- Medical Requests: For students whose medical needs necessitate a different school placement. These requests will require documentation from a licensed medical provider.
- Child of CMS Staff: For children of CMS employees requesting a transfer based on the parent or guardian’s employment location. Employment verification will be required
